WHY is this important?

 

The PSA 1 Foundations Training is a comprehensive Business Development program with a lot of moving pieces. You’re to be commended on not only your completion of this program, but your subsequent PSA Certification.

This Best Practice has been designed to ensure that you have a means of doing a quick review of how you are currently integrating the PSA 1 Foundation concepts as well as, allow you to identify the next high priority best practice concepts as it relates to the continued advancement of yourself, your team, and your advisory practice.

The PSA 2 Advanced Training builds on the fundamental elements of PSA 1 and covers the following areas:

  • Your Practice

  • Your Clients

  • Your Team & Affiliates

 

Although we encourage you to learn about each concept, we know that naturally some of these will be more important and/or a better fit for you based on where you are today and the vision of where you want to go.

HOW to Take Action & Implement Successfully?

 

Part 1 - Revisit Your Ideal Life

 

  1. Take time to carefully reflect on how to Define Your Ideal Life.

  2. Print a copy of the Ideal Life Worksheet to get started.

  3. Begin with Step 1 and use this worksheet to record your dreams.

    • Keep it concise -- but be as specific as possible.

    • Think about what really matters to you.

    • Be as thorough as possible and include both personal and professional ideals.

  4. Next, complete Step 2 of the worksheet by considering your Ideal Life and the various goals associated with achieving it.

    • Begin to list your short, medium, and long-term goals. 

    • Be as thorough as possible and include both personal and professional goals.

    • Follow the SMART Goals approach to defining your goals.

  5. When complete, you can save the worksheet to an electronic file and complete it on the computer or flash drive OR you can print it and complete it manually.

    • If completing on the computer save the file using a date suffix for easy identification (ie. IdealLife_July09).

    • If completing it manually, store it in your PSA Binder.

  6. Make a note on your calendar to revisit your Ideal Life & Life’s Goals Worksheet every three months.

PSA 1 Foundations – Check Point

​

  1. Print & review the Annual PSA 1 Foundations Check Up which is specifically designed to help with your continued implementation and success related to the best practices covered in PSA 1 Foundations. 

  2. Carefully complete each section that’s relevant and meaningful to you. 

  3. Identify important goals and related timeframes for completion in each area of your business. 

  4. Communicate these goals and timeframes to your entire team.

  5. Use this tool as part of your annual business planning process.

PSA 2 Advanced – Get Set

​

  1. Review PSA 2 Advanced Best Practices to identify the sections of this program and individual best practices within each that are of most interest to you.

  2. Think about the areas where you already have great success:

    • What can you share about your experience during these interactive discussions?

    • Do you have specific tools or resources you can also provide?

  3. Think about the areas that are your top priorities:

    • What do you want to achieve?

    • What resources do you need – people, process, systems?

    • What specific questions do you have?
